WASTE MANAGEMENT POLICY
OTOTO is dedicated to minimizing waste and promoting sustainable waste management practices. Our goal is to reduce our environmental impact and foster a culture of sustainability within our community.
1. Waste Reduction
We prioritize reducing waste at the source. Our initiatives include:
• Encouraging suppliers to use minimal and recyclable packaging.
• Promoting digital receipts to reduce paper waste.
• Implementing strict inventory management to minimize excess stock.
2. Waste Sorting and Recycling
We aim to maximize waste sorting and recycling efforts. Our actions include:
• Providing recycling bins for: plastics and metal, paper, glass, and household waste, in all our stores.
• Waste is segregated using color-coded bins.
• Each bin is lined with garbage bags to ensure durability and long-term usability.
• All receipts are recyclable and must be disposed of in the designated paper bins. Efforts are ongoing to standardize blue bins for paper waste across all facilities.
• Dedicated smaller paper bins are placed under counters in cafés for easy access and proper disposal.
• Partnering with local recycling facilities to ensure proper waste processing.
3. Sustainable Packaging
We commit to using environmentally friendly packaging. Our strategies include:
• Utilizing recycled and recyclable materials for all product packaging.
• Reducing single-use plastics and promoting reusable alternatives.
• Encouraging customers to bring their own bags and containers.
4. Employee Engagement
We believe in empowering our employees to contribute to waste management. We will:
• Provide training on waste reduction, recycling, and composting practices.
• Involve employees in waste audits and improvement initiatives.
• Recognize and reward innovative ideas for waste management.
5. Customer Participation
We encourage our customers to participate in our waste management efforts. We will:
• Offer incentives for customers who choose sustainable packaging options.
• Educate customers on proper recycling and composting practices.
• Promote the use of pick-up options to reduce delivery packaging waste.
6. Monitoring and Reporting
We are committed to transparency and continuous improvement. We will:
• Regularly monitor and report on our waste management performance.
• Set and review targets for waste reduction and recycling.
• Engage with stakeholders to share progress and gather feedback.
OTOTO is committed to leading by example in waste management. By integrating sustainable practices into our operations and engaging our community, we aim to reduce our environmental footprint and inspire others to join us in this important endeavor.
